Below is a checklist of all the European dragonfly and damselfly species. It's based on Dijkstra and Lewington's excellent Field Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of Britain and Europe. We have adopted the common names proposed in said field guide, removed some previously listed species (because they're now considered subspecies at best), and have added others or reclassified them into different genera.
In the table below we've highlighted in yellow the 75 species of which we currently have photographs available. And of course we're hoping to be able to highlight many more in the foreseeable future. |
