Note: The photographs below were taken on the island of Tahiti, in French Polynesia. The Tramea species which occurs on the island was initially identified as Tramea limbata (Desjardins, 1835), but that identification is now generally considered a mistake. The current thinking is that the species is in fact Tramea transmarina. Note also that Tramea transmarina Brauer, 1867 is now considered by many to be a synonym of Tramea propinqua Lieftinck, 1942.
