Gomphus à pattes jaunes
(Gomphus flavipes)

Previous species | Next species

All species of the genus Gomphus are characterized by their widely-separated eyes, a unique feature among European dragonflies. The River Clubtail is a medium-sized dragonfly with a very patchy Central European distribution. Its habitat consists of sandy-bottomed, slow-flowing and - typically - large rivers. Its thoracic markings are quite similar to those in other gomphids, but Gomphus flavipes males have blue eyes, while the females' eyes are green. Both sexes have predominantly yellow legs and the male has thin, angled appendages and an entirely black S10.
