The Yellow-Winged Darter is a small dragonfly. It's essentially an Eastern European species which occasionally spreads as far West as Iberia. All our photographs of the species to date were made in the Netherlands.
Sympetrum flaveolum is an easily recognisable species; besides the male's orange (rather than red) colour, the most distinguishing feature is really the huge orange-yellow patch at the base of the hind wing.
