Pronged Clubtail
(Gomphus graslinii)

The Pronged Clubtail (Gomphus graslinii) takes its name from the forked shape of the male's appendages. The species is endemic to South-Western France and Iberia, where its preferred habitat consists of fairly large and reasonably fast-flowing rivers. During our field trip to the Ardèche in June 2008, we managed to see and photograph only one, freshly-emerged male, so our coverage of the species is somewhat limited for the moment. With time we hope to revisit the area and to provide more and better photographs.
